Mental Health Counseling for Third-Party Reproduction Patients

Fertility Centers of Illinois requires all patients pursuing third-party reproduction to have a counseling interview with a qualified mental health professional. This is also required for donors and surrogates, who may be asked to take a personality test in addition to the interview.

Our staff psychologist, Dr. Marie Davidson, can provide this service. Or she is also available to help you find another qualified professional.

Marie Davidson, Ph.D.

Dr. Davidson has been involved in counseling prospective surrogates, donors and patients for almost 20 years. Dr. Davidson is a licensed clinical psychologist, having earned her doctoral degree at the University of Illinois. For the last 10 years, Dr. Davidson has concentrated on counseling individuals and couples who are coping with infertility. She leads many patient education seminars on these topics, is widely published in this field and has been an invited speaker at many professional meetings.

If you are using an agency that already provides this service, or if you have the counseling done elsewhere, FCI will accept a letter from the mental health professional that provided the service.

In any case, as you go through your treatment process with FCI, Dr. Davidson is available for support and advice.
